China Glaze: Pool Party

So after a dreadful 4 weeks of not having fake nails, I gave back in.
I can't stand real nails. Always breaking and it is too much up keep for me!
Plus with my new job, doing my own nails is hopeless!

BREAKING NEWS: PPT's Author on Fashion Segment!

WOW! What an experience. About a week ago my sister and I were asked to model some clothes for Celebrity Looks on a College Budget for Charlottes Fox News Rising and I was SO excited! How many people get this opportunity?? So after I immediately said yes, Bridgette, the head of Charlotte Style Magazine, assigned a boutique for me to go to where I had to bring in a celebrity look, and then find an ensemble that looked similar to that celebrities look but cost a lot cheaper! The look that I chose was Kim Kardashians look during fashion week. She wore a silk shirt dress, curled her hair, and accentuated her waist with a belt. This is KK's look...
Super chic right!? Well my look was a little different! Instead of a dark green I chose an army green romper designed by Charlie Jade from an adorable boutique called The Pink Hanger that already had a silk belt attached, but still had the deep V-neckline and mid length sleeves. My sister Laura decided to model a chic one-sleeve dress that resembled a Stella McCartney gown that Eva Mendes wore to The Met Gala. Laura's look was from a boutique called Petal and was designed by T Bags. Laura chose to make her look more funky, casual and school appropriate. Here is the Eva Medenz look...
After arriving at the news headquarters we walked into the dressing room and touched up our makeup and dressed in our ensembles. The minute the assistant walked into the room to call us to the set my heart started pounding in my chest. I know that local news isn't a big deal, but to me it seemed like I was about to star on American Idol or something! I was nervous! We walked onto the set, lined up in order and the producer began to count down...
5five
4four
3three
2two
1one
Then one by one we got to go up on stage and model our look while Bridgette and the anchor talked about who designed it, how it resembled the celebrities look, and how that look applied to college fashion. I had a BLAST! It was SO much fun! Here are some pictures from our exhilarating experience...
And if the pictures aren't enough, check out the video that the Foxs News posted on their website!
I still can't believe that I got to be featured on the news. Not only was this exciting because it was something new and different, but wearing these chic clothes made it even more up my ally! It's something that I am DEFINITELY always going to remember! There is even more exciting news coming later in the week, make sure you stay tuned for that! Hope everyone is having a fantastic Wednesday! And (cue news broadcaster voice) that's all we have for today ladies and gentlemen...

movie with Jae + new nails

Yesterday they had "super day" in movie theathers and all movie tickets were half price. So me and Jae decided to go watch Bad Teacher. Before movie started we went to sit and chat in Johto cafe.

It was super hot day again so we ordered cold drinks: ice latte and ice tea!

My outfit. I had totally forgotten I had a top like that, found it a couple of days ago when I was browsing through my closet.

Shorts Yumetenbo
Belt Pieces
Sandals Yumetenbo
Earrings Liz Lisa
Necklace Seppälä
Bracelets Seppälä & Warehouse

In movies, it was pretty good and funny I think!

Later we saw some friends and just hanged around for a while before leaving to home. Dunno why we look so serious here. Taking pics is serious business, you know :I

I can almost see the sweat running on my face... Seriously it has been very very hot here!

Identical position of legs, um?

I did new nails on last Friday. It's very similar to the nails I did last time. As I said back then I wasn't pleased with their shape and length so I took them off pretty soon. I liked the idea of design so I wanted to give it another try. Well, those turned out a bit better but I'm not fully pleased with those either. Length is better but still not perfect. Actually the length looked nice until I decorated them. After decoing they look shorter O.O

Some of the rhinestones have detached already, too, should fix it. Next time I'll make pinkpinkbarbie -nails because actually I'm already fed up with this turquoise look..

importune inspiration and EXCITEMENT

Lately I have been SO busy. My family took a trip to Florida and I didn't even get one opportunity to update PPT because we were just going going going! I apologize for the infrequent posts. I promise that I will eventually get back to updating the blog almost everyday! In other news, tomorrow is a
VERY VERY VERY EXCITING
day for me! I am not going to tell you exactly what is going on, but MAKE SURE you tune in tomorrow night to get the low down! But while I am still regrouping and preparing for my big day tomorrow, I am going to leave you with what is hopefully the last post about summer inspiration! YAY! With school starting in a couple weeks I plan to gradually move on to fashion for Fall, my favorite season!
(pinterest)
But while the air remains humid and we are all still sitting in the 100 degree weather feeling sticky and looking exceptionally great (cue sarcasm) here are some ideas, and reminders, about what to wear that my photographer Allison picked out!...
Not only do you need a chic ensemble for summer, but a hairstyle that keeps you from burning up isn't a bad idea either! Check out how adorable these are...
(pinterest)
These items and up-do's help you stay cool, classy and comfortable during hot summer weather! If you try one of these styles or hairstyles out and want to show readers how flawlessly you rocked it, then send a picture to PPT and it will be reposted on this blog! Can't wait to share with ya'll tomorrow!...

Review- Elemis Skin Care

I was sent some samples of Elemis skin care from Timetospa and I finally have time to review them for you.
I was sent a facial wash, toner, and a mask, I am in love with the sample sizes!

 Balancing Lavender Toner:

This balancing skincare product effectively tones the skin, maintains the skins natural pH balance and preserves natural oils, without the use of alcohol or harsh detergents. This facial toner helps you regain wonderfully clear skin while combating oily t-zones. Ideal for use on acne prone, combination, or problematic skins.

Feels great on the skin, and get's the rest of the dirt off your face that the cleanser doesn't. I can feel it working on my acne on my chin and it already started to clear up!

 Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash:

This daily facial wash stimulates the skin's natural cell renewal cycle, actively smoothing and refining, whilst gently sloughing away dead skin cells which dull the complexion

This is a gentle cleanser, so it's perfect for sensitive skin. Does not lather it's more like a milk cleanser nice and creamy. Does not leave your skin feeling dry after you use it, and it's anti-ageing (which is a bonus!)

 Herbal Lavender Repair Mask:

This powerful herbal lavendar regenerating mask for combination skin contains antiseptic Rosemary, Thyme, and Elemis Lavender Essential Oil, which synergistically rebalance and purify the skin, making this the ideal mask for sallow and youthful skin prone to congestion.

I would have to say out of all the mask's I have used, this is in my top 5. It feels great, does not dry while your wearing it, and the smell is wonderful makes you all relaxed. I noticed a huge difference in my skin and I only use the mask twice a week.

New Haircut

So I finally decided to cut my hair, it's nothing major since I am very much in love with my long hair. But you know it's time to cut your hair when your hair also gets washed when washing the lil guy in the tub!
Here is my before photo:
It took me 10 mins to cut my hair, I only did a trim and feathered the ends so it didn't look so blunt.
Here is my After photo:
It sure makes the difference when you cut 2 inches off! But it feels so much lighter and has a little bit more volume. You don't need to go to the hair dresser's to cut your hair, it super easy and the best part it's FREE! My motto: It's hair it'll grow back.

How I got $50 worth of stuff for free at The Body Shop

Last year when they proposed I join the Love Your Body Club at The Body Shop, I was a little hesitant. It costs $10 a year, and I don't usually pay for rewards cards. But at the time, I was buying a large quantity of stuff, and the 10% discount nearly covered the membership costs. Since then, I've saved a TON of money on my Body Shop shopping sprees and gotten some exclusive deals and freebies too. This was one of those times.

One of the perks is their point system - for every purchase over $20, you get 1 point. For every purchase over $50, you get 2 points. When you make 4 points (which means spending $80~100), you get $15 worth of store credit. When you make 8 points, you get $25 worth of store credit and free membership renewal. I made it to 8 points about 8 months into my membership, and had my $25 sitting there, ready to be spent.

Except I didn't really need anything, so I was holding on to it until the right moment. Well, that right moment came. I received a $5 (off $25) coupon in the mail, so now I had $30 in store credit. Not only that, but this weekend they had a secret LYB members only sale that got you 25% off any purchase of $20 or more - that's in addition to your 10% regular discount! So now I had to go!

I shopped online before I went, because I always seem to get there and blank on what I need. I've tried a couple Tea Tree products and liked them, so I decided I'd get the Tea Tree travel kit ($25) to sample some of the other products, the Tea Tree face mask ($15) and maybe pick up a body butter if I needed something extra.

When I got there, the salesgirl mentioned that for the price of the travel kit, I could get the three full-sized products for the same price! There was a promotion going on (that wasn't advertised very prominently) which discounted the full-sized items!

The breakdown:

Face wash $11
Toner $11
Face lotion $13
Scrub $13
Mask $15
Tea tree oil $9

Original total: $72

Promotion for set of 3 skincare: minus $10
8 point gift: minus $25
$5 off coupon: minus $5
25% off $20 sale: minus $8
10% off LYB discount: minus $2.40

Grand total: $21.60

I could have spent a lot less, but faced with all these cool tea tree items and a discount, I ended up getting more than I planned. But when it came time to check out, I actually stunned the salesgirl into speechlessness. That's right - my couponing skills are so amazing, I even surprise the employees, haha! She said she's never seen anything like that before, although I personally don't think it was that amazing!

Now I have everything I could possibly want from The Body Shop, I think it's time to lay off the shopping for a bit!

ELF Studio glosses are a lovely surprise! Plus a mini haul.

I did a little shopping yesterday for some necessities, and like always, I ended up buying a few items I didn't need.  Ugh this ALWAYS happens!  In this post I'm going to talk mainly about the ELF Studio lip glosses I found, but I wanted to show you the other things I got, too!

I'm kind of in the market for a new cleanser, although I should stick to what I know works for me.  I ran out of my Aveeno Positively Radiant daily scrub a couple weeks ago.  I have been using my Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel for about a week, but I think it's the reason I'm breaking out in a few areas (which is weird because when I tried it in a sample pack, I loved it).  Anyway, I saw this Aveeno Positively Radiant Brightening Cleanser at Target and picked it up.  I hope it'll be nice for a basic daily cleanser- I love this line of products!
The L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara I will review separately, but my first impression is good.  It gives a lot of length and definition without clumping!

I was at my local HyVee grocery store and couldn't believe it when I saw an ELF Studio display!  They've always had the regular $1 line display (a four-sided turning stand), but I guess they just recently added one full of Studio products.  I'm not complaining!  They had a bunch of things I've seen online but never at Target- (all Studio line) small angled eyeliner brush, small precision eye brush, pigment eyeshadows, matte eyeshadows, matte lip colors, to name a few!  I was so excited.  The display I found was kind of picked over and some of the shades I wanted were out of stock, but I'll check back in a week or so and see.  I did pick up three things, a Glitter Gloss in Dazzling Diamond, Glossy Gloss in Funky Fuchsia, and Pigment eyeshadow in Innocent Ivory.
I'll talk about the Pigment eyeshadow in a separate post- for now, here are my thoughts/swatches/pictures of the glosses. :)

Glossy Gloss in Funky Fuchsia, Glitter Gloss in Dazzling Diamond, Pigment eyeshadow in Innocent Ivory

I'm totally loving each of these!
The Glossy Gloss in Funky Fuchsia is a gorgeous color.  I go absolutely crazy for shades like this (I love them on my fair skin!).  The formula is soft and smooth, and it applies evenly.  See the applicator below- it's a brush!

This makes it really easy to 'paint' on the lip gloss and get the color to exactly how you want it.  Both the Glossy Gloss and Glitter Gloss have this style applicator, by the way.
You can see by the swatches on my arm and lips below that these are also nicely pigmented.  I was afraid Funky Fuchsia would be really sheer, but fortunately the color stays pretty close to what's in the bottle.  The Glossy Gloss lives up to the 'glossy' claims- it makes my lips look healthy and shiny.  I'm really eager to try more of these!
They both smell like Jolly Ranchers or some kind of hard candy, so if you're bothered by scents, I'd be cautious.  Thankfully they don't have a taste otherwise I'd lick them off right away. :)
The Glitter Gloss in Dazzling Diamond is just as pretty to look at.  I had a hard time capturing the glitter, but the bottle shots above portray it most accurately.  The glitter is intense, though!  I still find it easy to wear because its in a clear base, but I always love a sparkly gloss.  Dazzling Diamond kind of reminds me of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure nail polish in a lip gloss form.  It doesn't shine as many different colors, but it has that "glowing" effect.

Glossy Gloss in Funky Fuchsia, Glitter Gloss in Dazzling Diamond

I couldn't capture the glitter in Dazzling Diamond with the flash on, so I had to take it off for that lip swatch.  I hope you can still get a good idea of how they look, though.  Funky Fuchsia is true to color.

Have you tried these lip glosses?  Have a favorite?  I'm absolutely loving them and how affordable they are!
