Updated Review: Suave Almond & Shea Butter hair care

I'm really not excited to do this updated review- I've never done this before because I've never had to.  I felt like I had been using the Suave Almond & Shea butter shampoo and conditioner long enough to provide you with a valid review, but the last several days have made me think otherwise.

These are the products I'm talking about, the Suave Professionals Almond & Shea Butter moisturizing shampoo/conditioner:

I'm going to start off with the good things- things I mentioned in my preview review (HERE) that still hold true.  These go for both the shampoo and the conditioner, since I've been using them together:

- Moisturizing formula
- Makes my hair soft
- Smells amazing
- Great price ($2.00 or less for each product)

However, after using these for over two weeks now, I've come to find that one very bad thing has happened to my hair: it's gotten unreasonably thin and lacks all volume.  My hair isn't extremely thick naturally, but I've always had a nice "normal" thickness, if that makes sense.  Since using these Suave products I lost all my body.

This is so disappointing because the price is INCREDIBLE for these and they do make my hair feel strong.  For example, when styling my hair I don't end up pulling much out like I normally do.

I ended up going to Target yesterday and buying my tried-and-tested Pantene Pro-V again.  My hair feels almost back to normal today after using that, thank goodness!

One thing I did want to mention, though- I'm making good use out of the Suave products.  Remember how I said in my first review that I wished my body wash smelled as good as these shampoos/conditioners?  Well, the conditioner works lovely as a body wash!  It leaves my skin feeling really smooth and soft, and the scent even lingers a little!  So I'm happy that the $4 I spent on these didn't totally go down the drain.

These might work for any of you with super super thick hair, but unfortunately for me they didn't cut it. I really apologize for not testing them out long enough to see the effects they'd have on my hair.  Thanks for bearing with me, though, and I hope you're all having a good Tuesday!

Review: Suave Professionals Almond & Shea Butter Shampoo+Conditioner

Question before I start this post- does anyone know when CVS starts their next semi-annual beauty sale?  I searched a bit online, and it looks like some people are saying it's going on right now with all the "buy x amount and get x amount in extra bucks".  Does anyone know for sure?  Or when the next one that's 50-75% is?  I'd love to know when they typically do that, thank you!

Anyway, sorry for the long title, lol.  This is the first review I've done on hair products, and since I'm really not a "hair girl" (I don't spend top dollar on my hair products/pay much attention to them), I never even expected to do this.  I think that's mainly because I've always used the same kind (Pantene Pro-V, which worked just fine), so I didn't know what else was out there.  Basically, I'm really excited to share this review with you guys- especially anyone like me who doesn't stray from their usual hair care products!

I didn't bring my shampoo/conditioner with me when I moved into my dorm, so I needed to buy new ones.  I was at Target and looking for something cheap that looked promising, and Suave Professionals called my name!

These are part of the Suave Professionals Almond and Shea Butter line, the shampoo and conditioner:

Price: I got these for $1.88 each on sale at Target (The main reason I was drawn to them!), but I think they retail between $2-$3.00.  Each comes with 14.5 oz of product.
Availability: At most drugstores and mass retail stores

What it claims:  This particular formula is for dry or damaged hair.  It claims to be "moisturizing" and will leave your hair richer and more nourished.

Formula/quality:  OK, a shampoo and conditioner that have almond and shea butters in them?!  I'll buy almost any lotion if it has either of those in it, so I knew I had to try these out.  They don't disappoint.  I've never used Suave shampoos or conditioners before but I'm definitely more inclined to after this experience.  The shampoo is an almost-clear cream consistency, and the conditioner is your typical opaque cream:
I wish the conditioner lathered up more, but I can't be too harsh since these ran me hardly $4.00 total.  Using them together for over a week, my hair already feels extremely smooth and silky.  My comb runs through it after I shower with no tangles.  And a wonderful added bonus?  The smell!  I figured it would smell lovely, and it really does.  I wish my body wash smelled like shea butter!

Pros:
- Super affordable, available
- Moisturizing and leaves my hair soft and smooth
- Smells like shea butter
- You don't need a ton of product (The shampoo lathers up much nicer than the conditioner)

Cons:
- Conditioner doesn't lather up as much as I'd like (However I think those with shorter hair wouldn't find this to be a problem)

I really think these products are a great value for your money.  I don't want to spend much, but I also don't want my money going to waste on something that doesn't do anything.  Suave didn't disappoint for me (And now I can't wait to try more of their shampoos/conditioners!).

Randoms

1) On a completely unrelated topic, look at what happened to my new Victoria's Secret eyeshadow palette (The one I purchased at the Semi-annual sale and did my most recent purple EOTD with):

!!!!!!!!
It fell out of my makeup drawer and hit my tile floor!  I was so mad.  Luckily it's not completely destroyed...

2) And another stupid thing I did on Tuesday, but just noticed it while I was in the shower this morning:

LOL.  So there I was at Target, thinking, "I need new shampoo.  Oh!  I should try the new Pantene stuff."  So I decide to get the kind for fine hair (I probably should've gone with the kind for medium-thick hair, but I wanted the volume stuff), and I'm looking at the different types.  They have one to get "Fragile to Strong" hair, and another to get "Flat to Volume" hair.  I don't know how I ended up with THESE, one Fragile to Strong conditioner and one Flat to Volume 2 in 1.  I never use 2 in 1, haha.  Whoops!

3) Anyway, I'm going with my boyfriend to his hometown today/tonight.  It's out in the country, but it's also on a lake, so we're going to go swimming/to the beach and stuffs.  This is the first time so far this summer that I've really had to "summer-proof" my makeup.  Unfortunately I don't have waterproof mascara, but I'm wearing my Maybelline Mineral Power powder foundation on my face, Benefit High Beam on my browbones and cheekbones, and then just some eyeliner (My trusty Clinique Quickliner) along with mascara.

I rarely wear this little makeup, and I practically ALWAYS wear eyeshadow.  But I think it'll do me just fine considering it's going to be 90+ degrees and 70% humidity.  Lovely!  :)

4) This didn't occur to me until today, but has anyone ever tried using paint brushes as makeup brushes? I wouldn't like throw out all my makeup brushes and only use paint brushes, but maybe having a few to complete my collection.  There are a few kinds of brushes I would like to have but don't want to dish out $$ on (Hobby Lobby has some decent prices, so I was thinking of checking out their selection).  Have you ever used paint brushes for makeup?

5) I achieved Carpenter Bee status on BzzAgent, haha!  Woopee!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
