Butterfly award, thank you!

The gorgeous Liz from Bronzed Doll just awarded my blog with the Butterfly award!  Thanks so much girl, you're incredibly sweet!  I'm still dealing with some personal issues that have made me not up to blogging.  It's sad to me, because blogging here has always been a delight and something I look forward to.
Seeing this blog award definitely helped to lift my spirits today, though!  You all mean the world to me and every comment/follower/anything makes a difference.
Give me a few days and I'll be back to normal with posting, I promise. <3

The Rules:
1. Link the person back who awarded you
2. Share 7 things about yourself
3. Answer the following questions below
4. Award this to 15 bloggers

Seven things about me:
1.  I'm a self-proclaimed cat lover and I enjoy frequently posting silly cat videos/pictures on my friends' Facebook pages (that I find while browsing Stumble Upon for hours..).  They think I'm crazy but it's ok.
2.  I could probably exist on apples, pretzels, peanut butter, and diet coke if I needed to.  And french fries.
3.  I want to be a fashion buyer.
4.  I love getting to know people and talking to strangers.  You learn so much!
5.  I have a hard time dealing with change, but years of therapy have taught me how to talk, talk, and talk about my problems.  And it helps, I'm telling you!
6.  I'm independent and love to explore new places by myself.

Questions:
Name your favorite color- Purple
Name your favorite song-  I'm newly obsessed with Garden & Villas.  A really good indie band.
Name your favorite dessert-  Raw cookie dough... with frosting.
What pisses you off-  People with big egos who flaunt it.
When you're upset you-  Talk about it, act like things are fine.
Your favorite pet-  My cat Turbo.  He's 20 pounds of love.
Black or white- Black.
Your biggest fear-  Flying spiders.  Crickets are the closest thing I've come to experiencing this.
Best feature-  Oh man, I don't know.  I get compliments on my skin a lot, so I guess that?
Everyday attitude-  Friendly and positive.
What is perfection-  Accepting your flaws, realizing that life has ups and downs that are out of your control but essential to helping you grow.
Guilty pleasure-  Buying makeup.  Uhh.

So!  I'm tagging anyone who wants to do this!
Thanks so much Liz for awarding me. :)

(A very early) birthday present, meet my new camera!

You know how "mom always knows best"?  I think my mom has proved that saying true at least a thousand times over the years.  She seems to know exactly what I need, what to say, what to do, no matter what the situation is- and in this particular instance, she knew I needed a little pick-me-up.
I've mentioned a few times this summer about my search for a new digital camera (as a birthday present), and since my birthday is usually a couple weeks after I leave for school, we've celebrated it early a few times.  So I was pretty sure this present would come early- not this early, though!  But this afternoon my mom suggested we go over to the camera place and take a look.  To my surprise and delight, I came home with a beautiful, new camera.

Canon Powershot Elph 100HS
Photo taken with my old camera, a Canon Powershot A530 (like 7ish years old!)

I love it so much!  I've had such success with my old camera, a Canon Powershot A530 (see picture below), as long as I get the lighting right.  But it's already around 7 years old and it was just so big and hunky- seriously, every time I'd bring it out with my friends around they'd poke fun at me, LOL.

This Powershot Elph has so many cool features that my old one doesn't, though.  I won't go into all the details and bore you, but I'm so happy with it.  And it's pink!  It also has HD video, so I'm going to experiment with taking videos as well (if you guys would be interested, of course!).

A few test pictures!
Review/comparison post of this balm coming soon!

Old camera.  You've served me well!

Anyway, I hope this camera will help in making my blog better for you guys.  Having better, clearer pictures for the blog was my main motivation for getting something new. :)
Oh!  And thank you all so much for your kind comments in my last post.  I really appreciate your care/concern- it means the world to me.  xox

Beauty wish list!

Being someone obsessed with makeup/beauty products... there's always something I want.  And I'm sure all of you can relate!  ;) Companies are constantly putting out new products and collections that make us want more and more, which is just as much of a problem for my wallet as it is for my bathroom storage.  I need to go through all the makeup I have (although my collection is minuscule compared to many of your's!) and probably do some form of P10P, but there are too many cool items I want to do that..
Problem aside, it's OK to look and drool, right?  Or, go into Sephora, swatch around, and then leave?  I do that too sometimes. ;)
Here are a few things I've been really wanting lately (as in have been seriously considering buying).  Obviously not including all the indie brands I want to purchase from (that would have to be its own post I think!) Feel free to share your wish lists in the comments, too!

1. Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector: My job is a "cosmetics floater" in a department store, so I "float" to different counters (or fragrance) when they need extra help.  I've been at the Clinique counter for the last few weeks, and I've learned so much about the brand- I'm loving most of it. I've heard awesome things about the Dark Spot Correcter; it's supposed to visibly improve your skin up to 53% after using for 12 weeks.  I only have a few pimple scars here and there, but they're annoying enough that I'd like them gone for good.  The only thing that is holding me back is the price tag. -_-

2. Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Balm in Super Strawberry: I've been using one of these almost every day at work, and they are perfect if you hate the feel of lipstick but still want a tint of color.  They are pigmented, smooth, and not sticky- the color also lightly stains your lips for a good 3-4 hours.  I love Super Strawberry on my fair skin and will probably buy it soon! :)

(Not pictured) Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey: I totally thought of this after creating the image, so sorry about that!  But I was pleasantly surprised by how much I love Black Honey.  I first tried it at Sephora a few months ago and felt "meh" about it, but then when I started working at Clinique I fell in love.  It's sheerer coverage but it's dark color gives your lips a lovely flush of berry.

3. Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil: I need to just repurchase this already.  I tried out the ELF Mineral Booster in Sheer as a replacement (review still to come), and I like it, but it doesn't give me the same "glow" that the Mineral Veil does.  There's just something I love about this one.

4. Tarte The Eraser Concealer in Fair: Everywhere I looked online was sold out of the shade Fair, so I might end up picking this up at my Sephora inside JCPenney sometime soon!  I love the coverage it gives, and I'm obsessed with these click-pen style concealers.  I'd love to use this under my eyes on dark circles, but it's great coverage would work over acne scars, too (I'm guessing!).

5. OPI Pirates of the Caribbean nail polish collection: I don't need all the colors, but I just love them as a whole- especially Stranger Tides.  I've been trying to find the Sinful Colors collection that is similar to this, but I haven't had any luck lately (and no where around me sells this collection in stores!).  Such pretty pastels. :)

6. Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh perfume: It wasn't until I worked in the fragrance department this summer that I started to like Daisy.  And then I decided I loved both Daisy and the Eau So Fresh version!  Funny, because I used to really dislike it.  Now I love the sweet floral scent.

Mega Haul, New Vid, and I'm BACK!

Hello lovely lovely people!

In short... I'm back! Still trying to sort out some lighting/location/filming issues, but I am indeed back to making videos, and I've come back with a monster 25 minute long video (which I'll post here once it's uploaded).

To accompany this video, I've posted below this post a series of swatches/product photos for some of the things I show in the video... swatching during videos is far too messy! So be sure to scroll down and check out Part 1: Lipsticks, Part 2: Lip glosses, and Part 3: Eyeshadows!

Full shot of new goodies!

♡Ben&Jerry's free cone day & what's wrong with this person⌒♡+

I really love spring! (o´∀`o)
The weather is so nice and warm

I have been pretty lazy to doll myself up completely (゜ー゜*)
I haven't done my hair, just did a quick bun everyday.
Also my outfits have been really simple and plain

I'm totally free almost everyday.
I don't have school or work (´ω`*)
I have sent so many job applications but only answer I have got is always: "Thanks for your interest but unfortunately you weren't chosen for this job.." blabla.
Actually I should read for entrance exams but they feel to be so far away in the future ヽ(*’-^*)。

What a boring and plain outfit..
This should have been better with jumpsuit and heels but the weather isn't that warm yet that I could have wore them ( ´∀`)

But what I love about being so free everyday.. I can do whatever I want whenever I want

In the morning I opened my laptop and saw online that it was Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day! (ノ≧∀≦)ノ
So dolled up myself very quickly again and headed to centre of Helsinki in order to get free cone of heavenly ice cream

I was so sure that the line in Kamppi would be very long
That's why I headed straight to Ben&Jerry's at Esplanadi

The line was only a few metres more longer on right σ(^○^)
I had to wait only less than 10 minutes for my cone

Om nom nom best thing in the world..
Hahaha!

Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream (゚∇^*)
Now when I'm so poor living on our own I have to use every chance to get free food.
Haha just kidding!

I walked around eating my ice cream and went to see how was the line in Kamppi
And it was like this..
Ben&Jerry's bar is inside the shopping centre and the line spanned outside
That's crazy! Why didn't more people go to get their free icre cream at Esplanadi? (`▽´)

Off topic to ice cream
I love new ethnic looks by Seppälä o(^◇^)o
I want that zebra overalls so bad
But at the moment I have no extra money for clothes shopping.. (;_;)

And still to another topic..
I have just wondering what's wrong with this one person.
That she tells you compliments and tries to be friendly but then again she writes some shit to you..

Here comes a bunch of screen shots.

I got a comment like this in my last entry.
Nothing wrong with that, of course everyone can not like my hair and I don't really care.
But what makes this really strange is that this comment was deleted after a minute and new comment posted..

Same person telling totally different thing, now being nice and friendly.

But this wasn't new to me at all..
Let's go back to last summer when I was traveling and posted photos while being on the beach.
I got comments like this:

By the way it's "you look". When you are talking about she or he in third person, you have to use s-ending after a verb, not when talking about second person.

LOOKS LOOKS LOOKS.
She even bothered to spam same thing over and over again in many entries.

That's how she replied back when I told her she must be sick bitch and told her to just look on her own tummy.

You wonder how I knew who it was telling that (refering to my reply shown above)
Because the person failed being anonymous.

Accidentally commented by her account.
And that "U LOOKS" kept repeating.
Even though I already realized who she is and asked her why is she commenting her honest opinions anonymously she just kept spamming more "u looks pregnant" stuff.

She deleted her comment after noticing she posted it with her name.
And then left "nice" comment again wtf.

I remembered the same person commenting me before things like this

First I accepted her friend request in Facebook but after founding at that she was leaving those irrelevant comments, I deleted her.
She kept sending me more nice comments and friend requests.
She even sent friend requests to my friends and boyfriend in Facebook.

And a couple comments she left recently while telling compliments to other entries.
I didn't bother to care but today I got pissed off to this two-faced person.

Her repetitive grammar mistake reveals who is behind those anonymous comments.

Well, just wondering..
What is this person trying to reach?

First time on a film shoot! (Picture heavy)

I briefly explained a little about the student film shoot I did makeup/costume/hair for last weekend in my previous post, but I thought it would be fun to make a separate post of the pictures I took during it.  I wasn't able to get many great shots of the makeup unfortunately (the girl I worked with had an amazing Nikon that blew my camera out of the water! haha.  And I couldn't get the lighting quite right).  I did, however, manage to take pictures of the crew doing their jobs behind the scenes!  This post will be a little non-makeup-related, but I hope it's at least a little interesting for you. :)

The set-up for filming is a long process.  It took at least two hours for us to be completely ready every day.  The lighting was really impressive- you can pretty much make any effect with the right type of light.
This is the actress that played the mom; she has really curly, thick, deep red hair that we straightened.  In this scene, they used lighting effects to make it look like candles were flickering in her face.

The lighting guys set up a nice spotlight in our "makeup room" for the scenes we shot at the house.  It was really nice and felt professional.  My best friend (sitting; she was also the main actress) said she felt like a movie star, haha.

We had to make this guy look like a stoner!  He's pretty clean cut normally, so we used purple/mauve/nude cream eyeshadows and powder to make dark undereye circles.  Unfortunately I didn't get any good pictures of his makeup, but the girl I worked with did an amazing job.  This was his hair that we dyed.  We added hair gel to make it look greasy.

We had to make a head wound, so we mixed corn syrup with water and added red food dye.  We made two containers of it, one a thicker consistency and one thinner.  The thicker one we used at the base of the "injury", and then rolled bits of cotton (from q-tips) into it to make the "flesh".  The thinner "blood" was used around the outside of the "wound", and then rolled onto the outer parts of his hair.  I think it turned out pretty good!

This was the only makeup picture I took that really turned out.  I didn't have a lot of time to take pictures after I finished makeup, unfortunately.

I hope I was able to share at least a little of the excitement of working on this set with you all!  Thanks for reading.  Expect lots of reviews to come- I'm currently testing out several different things!
