Mega Haul, New Vid, and I'm BACK!

Hello lovely lovely people!

In short... I'm back! Still trying to sort out some lighting/location/filming issues, but I am indeed back to making videos, and I've come back with a monster 25 minute long video (which I'll post here once it's uploaded).

To accompany this video, I've posted below this post a series of swatches/product photos for some of the things I show in the video... swatching during videos is far too messy! So be sure to scroll down and check out Part 1: Lipsticks, Part 2: Lip glosses, and Part 3: Eyeshadows!

Full shot of new goodies!

How did you find the YT Beauty community?

Hey everyone,

Just a "chit chat" post about how I started watching beauty videos on YouTube.

It never really occurred to me to look on Youtube for videos about makeup and fashion. I read magazines and visited the websites of those magazines, but that was it.

So in April or May of 2008, I was searching Youtube for the latest episode of Gossip Girl.
And one of the most recent results was a makeup tutorial for the makeup of Georgina Sparks. I remember wondering to myself why anyone would actually go to the trouble of figuring out her makeup, but I was also really curious. So I clicked. And a few hours later, I had plowed through all of this girl's makeup videos. Her username was carrielizlacey, and her account has since been deleted, but she was my very first subscription. I made an account on YT so that I could subscribe to her.

For a while, I only watched her videos because I had no idea there were other makeup channels out there. But then I saw that carrielizlacey was subscribed to a channel called "MakeupGeekTV"... and.... well the rest is history :D

I often wonder what happened to carrielizlacey. I know it sounds weird, but I really liked her personality, and she wasn't bad at putting on makeup! And I wish she hadn't deleted her channel!

So who was your first subscription? How did you find the Youtube Beauty community?

Bella Swan hair from New Moon

Here's my newest video, Bella Swan's hair from New Moon. Her hair is a bit different in this movie. It's a lot straighter, with just the ends curling. Her hair is really long though, so by "the ends", I'm thinking of "jaw-line and lower". I think it turned out really nicely, but it's too bad my hair refuses to stay curled for a long period of time :(

Damn You JVC

I was so excited to make better quality videos.

Foiled.

For my birthday, I got a JVC Everio HDD camcorder, because I LOVE filming things. I'm a very visual person, I love taking pictures and having permanent memories. So I thought it would be a great addition to my camera family, which already includes a Nikon D60.

You know, for $500, I really didn't think I would have to ask how good the video quality is. It shouldn't really be an issue.

But for serious. My iSight camera takes better quality videos than the Everio.

Taking it back to Best Buy this weekend. Now I'm wondering what to get instead :(
