How I got $50 worth of stuff for free at The Body Shop

Last year when they proposed I join the Love Your Body Club at The Body Shop, I was a little hesitant. It costs $10 a year, and I don't usually pay for rewards cards. But at the time, I was buying a large quantity of stuff, and the 10% discount nearly covered the membership costs. Since then, I've saved a TON of money on my Body Shop shopping sprees and gotten some exclusive deals and freebies too. This was one of those times.

One of the perks is their point system - for every purchase over $20, you get 1 point. For every purchase over $50, you get 2 points. When you make 4 points (which means spending $80~100), you get $15 worth of store credit. When you make 8 points, you get $25 worth of store credit and free membership renewal. I made it to 8 points about 8 months into my membership, and had my $25 sitting there, ready to be spent.

Except I didn't really need anything, so I was holding on to it until the right moment. Well, that right moment came. I received a $5 (off $25) coupon in the mail, so now I had $30 in store credit. Not only that, but this weekend they had a secret LYB members only sale that got you 25% off any purchase of $20 or more - that's in addition to your 10% regular discount! So now I had to go!

I shopped online before I went, because I always seem to get there and blank on what I need. I've tried a couple Tea Tree products and liked them, so I decided I'd get the Tea Tree travel kit ($25) to sample some of the other products, the Tea Tree face mask ($15) and maybe pick up a body butter if I needed something extra.

When I got there, the salesgirl mentioned that for the price of the travel kit, I could get the three full-sized products for the same price! There was a promotion going on (that wasn't advertised very prominently) which discounted the full-sized items!

The breakdown:

Face wash $11
Toner $11
Face lotion $13
Scrub $13
Mask $15
Tea tree oil $9

Original total: $72

Promotion for set of 3 skincare: minus $10
8 point gift: minus $25
$5 off coupon: minus $5
25% off $20 sale: minus $8
10% off LYB discount: minus $2.40

Grand total: $21.60

I could have spent a lot less, but faced with all these cool tea tree items and a discount, I ended up getting more than I planned. But when it came time to check out, I actually stunned the salesgirl into speechlessness. That's right - my couponing skills are so amazing, I even surprise the employees, haha! She said she's never seen anything like that before, although I personally don't think it was that amazing!

Now I have everything I could possibly want from The Body Shop, I think it's time to lay off the shopping for a bit!

Tuesday hangout

Yesterday I had hangout with Jae after my work. We went to eat in SFC! Yummy~

Fat bitches getting fat.

First we did shopping in centre but later went to Itäkeskus. I think Itäkeskus is the best mall for shopping in Finland. Stores in Forum and Kamppi are too messy and crowded. Here I'm at Forum, though.

I don't know what happened with lightning 'cos my hair looks so dark! O.O Anyway, here's my outfit of yesterday. I asked Jae to take quite many outfit photos of me because I felt like none of them succeeded XD Usually after work I feel and look so unpleasant that no pictures turn out good. It was very hot day again so somehow my make-up had also melted away. It looked like a only had false lashes on. Blah that bothered me a lot, I felt un-dolled up :'D

Cancan hat Lindex
Salopette no brand from Mbok
Shirt Only
Bag Fiorella
Sandals Yumetenbo
Necklace GinaTricot
Bracelet H&M

I like that salopette a lot. Actually I was looking for light pink salopette in Mbok. In photo that one looked excatly like light pink so I bidded it. Later I read the description of item more closely and realised it was actually grey. Well, it was okay to me. When I got it, it looked like a light purple to me XD In some lightning it looks like that, in some it looks grey.

At Itäkeskus with Jae.

Ahahah too many outfit photos, you bored enough?

At Itäkeskus. Tuesday morning was very easy time for shopping as there weren't that much people.

I got mango melon ice cream ^u^

Uum.. We just kept eating XD Went to some Chinese restaurant there.

It was really delicious food!

Me and my little brother waiting for our dishes :D

recent purchases

There's quite many new items I have bought during past few weeks. I didn't introduce them in my blog, though! Some of them have been seen in my outfits already but well well~ Posting them still again!

High waisted shorts from GinaTricot. One of my favourite clothes at the moment!

Red polka dot blouse from Seppälä.

Necklace from Cawaii.

I have been looking for new cute jewelry and luckily I found this! I love that kind of jewelry which has lot of detailed charms.

How it looks when wore. The uppest chain doesn't show much here because of my collar.

Earrings from GinaTricot. Something I fell in love with a first sight and couldn't leave them there!

Necklace from Fiorella.

Jeans from Fiorella. Aaaw those pockets on back are too cute! Pant legs are bit too long for me, I just rolled them up here, gotta shorten those some day.

On Sunday two weeks back I went to Valtteri flea market which is near my place. I was so surprised I did so many good findings! Usually I only find some shit on flea markets but now I got good ones. My favourite out of them was absolutely this:

Cecil McBee playsuit! You can just imagine my expression when I found gyaru brand Cecil McBee's piece from flea market so close my place! First it's cute appearance caught my eyes, then I looked at the tag to see the size. Then I was like zomg I so must get this.

I just have one little problem with this.. I'm not sure if this is daily clothing or roomwear..? XD Haha I just can't tell it. What do you think? Has anyone seen in the store/net and does know which one it is? 8'D So far I have used it as a roomwear.

Zebra top, originally from Only. It was just like a new!

Turquoise boom! Earrings, originally from H&M.

Unused Hello Kitty nail polish in turquoise colour. My current nails are painted with it.

Two furry leopard frames, originally from Ikea. I haven't put photos on them yet but I think that for one I will put a photo of me and my man and to another photo of me and Jae~

Today we had beach party! Big thanks to all who attended. At least I had lots of fun, hopefully everyone else did, too! I'll post pictures from party next time. Now I'm off to bed, I'm dead tired 'cause last night I slept only 3 hours. Nights! Sorry if here's a lot of writing mistakes~

Claire's 10 for $10 goodies!

A while ago Claire's was having my favorite sale of theirs - 10 for $10! It's hit or miss, sometimes I find tons of things I want, and other times I leave empty handed. This wasn't one of those times! You don't have to buy 10 things (they all ring up $1 regardless of how much you buy) but I had no problem finding 10 things I wanted.

I'm currently on a bracelet kick, especially the braided ones, so I was happy to find lots of cute bracelets! I also picked up these goofy but adorable cases:

Because I can't resist things with kitties on them!

Peachy Keen

After a recent trip to my local MAC, something The Mother has been saying for years finally struck a chord. Not only do I buy too much make up, but I repeatedly buy the same sorts of products. I was looking at the mass amount of blushes available, and was slightly overwhelmed until one of the artists came up and recommended Springsheen. Although I was initially looking for something more bronze, I instantly fell in love with its peachy tones. Money handed over, thank you ma'am.

Only to get home and discover that I had three other almost identical blushes. Doh! At the beginning I was a little miffed, having spent over twenty euro on such a similar product. But then rationalised that its a colour that suits me and as long as I don't buy another one (hopefully) equally similar life is peachy. Yeaah?

So the moral of this story? I should probably invest in a variety of products, but hey, I probably won't need to repurchase for a while!

Do you hoard similar make up? Don't even get me started on eyeshadows..

Nars Orgasm - A peachy pink with shimmer, but not glitter. Believe me, I am not a glitter person; so its fab.

Sleek Rose Gold - Sleek's dupe of Nars Orgasm and they are almost identical. If you have one, you really don't need the other. Oops.

Nars Orgasm Multiple - Ditto. Double Oops.

MAC Springsheen - Although very similar to both the Nars and Sleek blushes, its slightly more of a peach. Again, its probably not a necessity. Triple Oops.

Inner Grunge

In anticipation of starting my make up course in just six days, I decided to play with my face for a night out. Instead of the usual brown smoky eye I usually go for I opted for something a bit more grungy. I decided to use gel liner as eyeshadow, pressed a bit of powder shaow on top, dabbed a little bit of clear lipgloss over it, and hey presto. Grunge. The had creased before I left my house, but I like it that way.

Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Foundation
MAC Harmony Blush (as contour)
MAC Melba and Springsheen Blush
Josie Maran Lovely Palette (as highlight)
Maybelline Black Gel Liner (as eyeshadow)
MAC Typographic e/s
NYX Clear Lipgloss
Eyeko Big Eyes Mascara

This look was inspired by a beautiful new pair of shoes I acquired a week ago. I cannot walk in them for the life of me, but the guy who sold them to me was too good looking to disappoint. Sad? Yes. But we all do it, don't we?

So here are my fabulous shoes, that will probably remain in their box until I get the courage or ever get drunk enough to wear them. And they are sickly beautiful.

shopping with sis

My little sister and her friend visited me last week. They stayed from Monday to Wednesday here. On Tuesday we got up early and went shopping!

Waiting a subway to Itäkeskus shopping centre.

Cancan hat Lindex
Maxi dress Lindex
Belt Pieces
Sandals DinSko

Close up to my accessories and nails.

Left hand: bracelets from Seppälä and H&M, ring from KappAhl.
Right hand: bracelets from KappAhl and Seppälä.

I just love all turquoise accessories! I also did my nails turquoise. I painted some white zebra print on them. Some of the nails are covered with turquoise glitter. I'm not completely pleased with those nails. I made them in such a hurry so they didn't turn out just as I wanted. They are a bit too short and the shape isn't that great. But well~ I will keep those for a while and maybe then do similar nails with better time.

New bag from Fiorella. My old "daily" bag from Yumetenbo is very worn out, dirty and broken. So I thought it was time invest on a new bag. Well, I have tons of different bags and purses but I needed that "daily bag" if you know what I mean. A bag you can grab with you whenever you go and which is spacious enough for your daily stuff and little bit for more.

At Itäkeskus~

I had pork in oyster sauce for a lunch. Those portions were really huge so nobody could finish them.

Waiting while little girls were trying on some clothes :D

After shopping we spent rest of the day at Linnanmäki amusement park.

My simple and plain outfit for amusement park time. I think it was super boring but I had to wear something practical. Weather also got colder. My hair is all messed up after all rounding on rides.

Cardigan Fiorella
Top Liz Lisa
Jeans Fiorella
Sandals DinSko
Bag Fiorella

Actually this outfit was detailed, too, but you can't see them well in the photo. Those jeans have bows made of lace on the back and also a cardi has bow details. I had denim ribbon earrings to match with jeans.

Meter liquorice candy!!! ♥

After that day I was deadly tired.. T_T
