Priorities Change

Recently, I've been obsessing over bright lips. Strange, I know. Colour isn't really my thing. Maybe its the fact that my eyes sting like hell from applying, taking off and re-applying make up on the course multiple times a day, but focussing on my lips has become more of a priority for me when I have free time, rather than whacking on a ton of eye make up.

Contrary to popular belief, well mine anyway, its not as hard as you'd think. Nope, they're not perfect. It's only recently that I've noticed just how out of proportion my face and lips are (a room surrounded by mirrors will do that to you). But perfection is a bit overrated, right?

I'll have a 'tutorial' of this up tomorrow on my channel , and hope you enjoy! Have you changed what make up you apply over the last while?

Nude Lips with Revlon ColorBurst lipstick in Fashion's Night Pout

I see the Revlon ColorBurst lipsticks every time I go to any kind of drugstore, and I'm always curious.  Don't ask me why this is the first time I've tried them because I really don't know!  I've heard great things about them (I think the best comment I read once was about them being one of the best lipsticks at the drugstore) and they come in a wide variety of colors.  I think what put me off for so long was that you can't actually see the color of the bullet; the color on the tube is practically spot-on, but I like to know exactly what I'm getting.
Anyway, I've been curious about the shade Soft Nude for a really long time- I just wasn't so sure how it would go with my fair skin.  And then I saw pictures of the LE Fashion's Night Pout pop up on various blogs and thought it looked promising (Even though I had read that if you had Soft Nude, you probably didn't need Fashion's Night Pout as they were quite similar).  Well, I FINALLY found Fashion's Night Pout after the longest time, so I snatched it up disregarding whether or not the shade would be flattering!
I'm not sure if it's the most flattering nude lipstick for me, but I'm glad at least I'm not wondering anymore. :)

First, I'll start with the packaging.  Everything I've read about these lipsticks is spot-on, the packaging is lovely for a drugstore lipstick.  I love the embossed pattern on the tube, and it feels heavier in my hand than some of my other lipsticks (which to me equals higher quality).  The imprinted "Revlon" on the actual bullet is also a nice added touch.

The Revlon ColorBurst lipsticks are supposed to be lightweight with a pop of color.  From the Revlon website:
Instant burst of rich, true color with a featherlight feel
Elasticolor™ technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like a second skin.
So, how did the actual product live up to the claims?  (For this review I'll only be focusing on Fashion's Night Pout because I've only tried this shade and can't speak for the collection as a whole.)

Fashion's Night Pout is a neutral peachy beige with slight pink undertones.  This makes it a little easier to wear for fairer skin tones, but it still leans pretty brown on me.  Not the most flattering color for me, but it works, especially with a pinky nude lipgloss.  I think for most people this will be a good option for a nude lipstick.
The lipstick has a nice finish that lies somewhere between a satin and creme.  It gives a bit of shine and doesn't lay flat, but it isn't frosty.  This is one of my favorite kinds of finishes because it isn't matte (too clingy on lips) and isn't frosty or metallic (which just looks terrible on me!).

I don't know if it's just my tube, but I've noticed the product is a little hard to apply.  It doesn't "glide" on very easily and I have to do several swipes to get the result you see below.  It's not bad, but it kind of reminds me of some chapsticks that have a "harder" formula, if that makes sense.  I think this might have to do with the light color.
Once it's on, however, it's pigmented and lasts about three hours without a gloss or anything on top.  I noticed fading after that and I would have needed to reapply (but I was lazy and didn't, haha).  I don't know, I still have a thing about lipsticks.  I'm TRYING to get myself to like them but I think I'm going to stick mainly to lip glosses and stains after this- at least for nudes, anyway.  I love me a good red lipstick with gloss over it, but for a regular outing (when I assume most people would wear this nude lipstick) I'd just assume stick to a gloss.  Personal opinion, though!
Otherwise, the formula feels comfortable and I think it lives up to its "lightweight" claims.  It feels almost like a lip balm because it's so smooth and creamy.

This is an LE product, but from pictures it looks to be almost identical in color to Soft Nude.  And after this I'm definitely interested in trying some of the other 20 shades Revlon offers.

What about you guys?  Do you own this or Soft Nude, or any others?  How did you like them?

E.l.f Natural Nymph and Nostalgic

 Natural Nymph and Nostalgic
Natural Nymph and Nostalgic

Nostalgic is more peach rather then a nude color, It looks really good with lip gloss over it.
Natural Nymph is very nude compared to the Nostalgic.
So if you don't want a very nude but yet a nude I would go with Nostalgic.

Victoria's Secret Perfect Lip Stick

Just a small review on a lipstick I recently purchased from Victoria's Secret!
It's called "Heated"

Very soft lip stick. It goes on a lot more sheer than it looks.
I like it alot, very pretty.

Top it with some clear gloss and you're good to go!

Lime Crime Review

This is my first ever Lime Crime review.
And I am QUITE impressed with their products.

One unique thing I liked is that they have their own boxes.
Most companies just mail their product to you in a generic mailer, which is fine, but I just think that this is a step beyond :)

The packaging got even cuter!

I ordered three eyeshadows and one lipstick.

These were the eyeshadows I chose...
Troubadour, Lime Criminal, Abracadabra

Swatches...
(Without primer)
I am very impressed with the quality of the eyeshadows. They have a silky soft feel to them and are very vibrant in color. You get 2grams of eyeshadow in each container. I am looking forward to creating some looks with these!

And the lipstick I chose...
Retrofuturist

Here are a few swatches...

First of all i LOVE the tube itself. It's purple with a glittery unicorn on it. So cute!
The lipstick goes on very smooth and the smell reminds me of MAC lipsticks. Subtle and pretty.

All products can be purchased at www.limecrimemakeup.com

(I was not paid to do this review, I purchased on my own!)

Hope you enjoyed :)

Haul Part 1: Lipsticks

Hi everyone!

Here's part 1 of my haul/swatch post, going along with my monster of a video on Youtube, which I'll post as soon as it's up.

I thought I'd do this in separate posts so it's easier to navigate, so here we go with the lipsticks!

L-R: MAC Hue, Revlon Stormy Pink, Revlon Demure, Shiseido Perfect Rouge

Hue and Demure are quite similar, with Hue being a bit more on the pink side. Stormy Pink is a clear blue-pink matte colour, and it can be a bit drying so be careful! Also not as scary as it looks in the tube. Shiseido's red lipstick is fab. A nice deep red that works on fair skin! Win!

Same order as above!
I have yet to wear Demure, and have only played a bit with Hue, but the other two are lovely. Stormy Pink works best with a gloss or balm on top!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Tokyo

I bought this from Ulta because their NYX sale was buy 2 get 1 free, and I thought I'd give it a try.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream
"It's not a lipstick, nor is it gloss. It's like nothing you've ever experience before. It's lipstick cream that goes on silky but looks soft matte."
(That is what the tube says)

The bottom reads: SMLC03 Tokyo

Before:

After:

The product did go on very smooth and it has a light scent. This was my first ever NYX lip product and I will say I recommend it. I will be purchasing other colors.

Have you ever tried a NYX lip product? If so list it in the comments!

xoxo

Shaping your lips

shape up your lips

Applying lipliner is not only a great way to define and accentuate the shape of your lips, but also to keep your lipstick from feathering.

1. Begin applyling lipliner at the center of your natural upper lip line to define the bow then work toward the outer corners to complete the line.
2. Start at one corner of your bottom lip then follow your natural lip line all the way to the other corner.

Tip: Choose a lipliner that matches your lipstick or a flesh tone shade for a soft, natural look.
Tip: To get plumper, pinker looking lips, do not touch up by drawing a hard lip line; smudge it so lips look fuller! For a more dramatic fullness, choose a lipstick shade with a hint of frost.
Tip: To avoid lipstick on your teeth, put your index finger in your mouth and then draw it out slowly with your mouth closed. What you see on your finger is what would have ended up on your teeth!

e.l.f Lipstick review

They may be only a $1 but they pack a punch of color!
There are 6 lipstick colors to choose from 'Classy' is missing because it's for Christmas haha
Left to Right: Gypsy, Voodoo, Seductive, Posh, Fantasy
Here are the colors from e.l.f's website
Left to Right: Fantasy, Classy, Seductive, Gypsy, Voodoo, Posh
The colors are way different then off their website. I thought Posh would have been more Red then what it was, and Fantasy not so Brown.
They go on very smooth, smell good. They do stay on a long time, but I a lip licker *slaps hand* I know bad me, so they don't last long on me.
I love the packaging, with the 'see' through window, easy to see when they are in your drawer.

My rating
4.5 out of 5
I would recommend this to my friends, and re purchase again.

Neutrals Be Gone

I could never wear coloured eyeshadow. It just simply doesn't suit me. Bright lips are something I can deal with. MAC's Impassioned is one of my favourite lipsticks but I definitely can't wear it during the day, so my mission was to get a wearable pink/red colour. Mission accomplished!

Review: Wet 'n' Wild Silk Finish lipstick in Dark Wine

Finally, I have a new review for you all today.  It feels like it's been forever and a day since I've done one of these, so I truly respect your patience and understanding.
I've been meaning to talk about this product for a long time.  I bought it probably a month ago now, when select Wet 'n' Wild lip products were randomly 50% off at my Walgreens.  I had been looking to try out a dark lip color for fall, so this seemed like the perfect chance (How can you say no to a $0.49 lipstick?).

Wet 'n' Wild Silk Finish lipstick in Dark Wine #522A

(My flash washed out the color a bit, I'm sorry!  The truer color is noticeable in the swatch)

Price: About $0.99 at Walgreens (They often have Wet 'n' Wild on sale, though, so you can easily score it for 50 cents like I did!)

Quality/formula: For being not even a dollar, these lipsticks are golden.  Now, I'm not too familiar with lipstick formulas and describing them, but this one is creamy and not overly drying.  It does dry down to almost a stain-like finish, though, which is great for people like me who dislike the feeling of product on their lips.  I totally forget I have lipstick on!
The creaminess of this lipstick makes it easy to apply.  I get a good 3-4 hours of wear until the color begins to fade.  This is perfect for me, because usually by that time I've been eating and drinking.  When it starts to fade, it's not splotchy, either.  A little lip gloss on top would make it wearable without re-touching for another hour or so.

Color/finish: I'm adding in this category because I'm so particular about the color and finish of my lipsticks.  I typically stray far away from dark, even red colors, but this one was a cream finish so it seemed less intimidating.  This is a beautiful shade of red/berry.  A lot of the other colors in this line are really frosty or too brown looking, so I was pleasantly surprised when I swatched Dark Wine.

Unfortunately, there aren't many other cream finishes (From the looks of it anyway.  I could be wrong!). I don't do frosty lipstick, so this is a con for me.

Packaging: Lastly, the packaging.  Unfortunately this is where the cheap price is most obvious.  The container snaps shut just fine, which is good, but it just feels cheaply made and inexpensive.  However, this wouldn't bother me so much if the lipstick just screwed all the way down into the tube.  I hate when companies do this.  Look:
The Mega Last lipsticks do the same thing, it's so annoying!  But that's what you get for $0.50, so I don't hold it against Wet 'n' Wild too much.

Pros:
-Inexpensive, easily available
-Good formula
-Decent wear time

Cons:
-Poorly packaged
-Limited color/finish selection

I'm really impressed with this purchase.   I really didn't expect much coming out of it, but I'm happy I ended up trying this!  Do you own any of these lipsticks?  I'd love to hear if you like any of the other colors!

How I Wore MAC's Impassioned

MAC'S Impassioned lipsticks is one of those beauties you view from afar. Love but don't touch. I bought it with the idea that I would wear it on nights out, and then soon realised I didn't have anywhere near the confidence I needed to do this.

As a pink-red-coral (depends on the lighting!) it can be totally unforgiving, but can also look stunning.Last night I went to a Hallowe'en party where everyone was dressed up (whoops, all except me), so I decided that I would let Impassioned venture out of the collection. And it did not displease.
